Don’t Fall Victim to a Holiday Heart Attack

Research shows that Americans have more fatal heart attacks during the holiday season than any other time of the year.

In fact, according to a study published by the American Heart Association, the top three days for heart attacks are December 25, December 26 and January 1.

It’s a phenomenon known as Holiday Heart and it can be attributed to many things, such as extra stress or maybe even overindulging as people tend to eat larger portions of richer, saltier foods and drink more alcohol this time of year.

Many times people get caught up in checking off their to-do list items, which can cause medication regimens to fall by the wayside. And if they do notice concerning heart symptoms, they’re more likely to put off seeing a doctor to avoid disrupting their family’s holiday plans.
