In 2022, Carol Green left her home north of New York City to move to Lewisberry, Pennsylvania – a move that may have saved her life.
Years earlier, Carol was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (afib) and diabetes. Then in 2021, Peripheral Artery Disease was added to the list. PAD is a painful condition caused by the build-up of plague in the arteries which restricts blood flow to the legs and/or arms. If untreated, it can lead to amputation of the affected limbs, heart attack or stroke. PAD is a serious condition and is very common in patients living with diabetes.
PAD made life difficult for Carol. She was struggling with leg cramping so severe that even grocery shopping was unbearable. Her legs felt like they were in a vice.
Fed up with the pain, she made an appointment with a New York City-area vascular surgeon. He scheduled her for a leg-stent procedure.
Unfortunately, the surgeon was not able to navigate Carol’s artery to properly place the stent. He couldn’t get through the plaque build-up. The procedure was unsuccessful.
Feeling helpless, Carol returned to her life of pain.
About a year later, Carol moved to PA to be closer to her family. She sought out a new doctor for her leg pain and found Cardiovascular Experts and Dr. Dave’ in Camp Hill.
After an evaluation, Dr. Dave’ scheduled Carol right away for a minimally invasive stent procedure to be done in the outpatient surgical center at Cardiovascular Experts. He was able to go into the blocked right leg artery, place the stent and restore blood flow immediately.
“I woke up from the procedure without pain,” Carol says. “Dr. Dave’ was able to open my leg on the first try! I felt better right away.”
She credits Dr. Dave’ for being the only doctor who took away her pain. In fact, she recently underwent the same successful procedure for her left leg.
She is grateful for the positive impact Dr. Dave’ has had on her life and wants to help others learn about the exceptional care he and his team provide.
